ROGERS ANNOUNCES BANKS AND GALLAGHER AS NEW SUBCOMMITTEE RANKING MEMBERS

Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Mike Rogers (R-AL), the Ranking Member on the House Armed Services Committee, announced two new Armed Services Subcommittee Ranking Members. Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN) will serve as the Ranking Member for the Subcommittee on Cyber, Innovative Technologies, and Information Systems and Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) will serve as the Ranking Member for the Subcommittee on Military Personnel.

“I am pleased to announce that Representatives Jim Banks (R-IN) and Mike Gallagher (R-WI) will be taking on new and important roles on the House Armed Services Committee,” Ranking Member Mike Rogers said. “Rep. Banks will serve as the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Cyber, Innovative Technologies, and Information Systems and Rep. Gallagher will serve as the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Military Personnel. I am pleased to have two combat veterans in these roles. I have the utmost confidence that Representatives Banks and Gallagher will continue to be outstanding leaders as we work to strengthen our national defense and modernize our military to combat our rising adversaries.”

“I thank Ranking Member Mike Rogers for the opportunity to lead Republican efforts on the Subcommittee on Military Personnel and was grateful to work on ensuring those serving and their families are well taken care of,” Banks said. “I am now honored to be asked to lead the Subcommittee on Cyber, Innovative Technologies, and Information Systems and look forward to advancing U.S. efforts on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, emerging technologies, and other key technology issues to modernize the Department of Defense and equip the military for the future of warfare.”

“I’m honored to have the opportunity to serve as Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Military Personnel. There is nothing more important than ensuring our service members have the resources they need to keep us safe, particularly in light of the growing threat posed by the Chinese Communist Party” Gallagher said. “As I take on this new role, I will be guided by the words of Marine Corps Doctrinal Publication 1 Warfighting, which reminds us the military has two basic functions: ‘…waging war and preparing for war. Any military activities that do not contribute to the conduct of a present war are justifiable only if they contribute to preparedness for a possible future one.’ I look forward to working with my colleagues to ensure the Department is laser-focused on performing these functions and training our service members to be warriors – not wokesters.”
